Originating from the picturesque city of Nain, 200 kilometers east of Isfahan, Nain rugs have long maintained a high reputation, and are immensely popular. Constructed using the Persian knot, Nain rugs are generally made with a cotton foundation with a very soft woollen pile. Manufactured in India, a refined level of workmanship is displayed in these Indo-Nain hand knotted rugs, which boast a high knot density. Common patterns show a center medallion combined with arabesque and floral motifs moving outwards and on the fringe areas.
